About the Owner

Hello, my name is Don! I am the owner of the business, which I should mention is not involved in website development per se. I have a degree in Environmental Studies and a graduate degree in Critical Disability Studies. I also completed a graduate certificate in Human Resources Management and a certificate in Rehabilitation Counselling. I am currently doing a penetration testing program through the Hack the Box Academy.

While I don’t have an IT background, I set up the LAN in my home office. I also converted a refurbished Windows 10 tower into a Kali Linux attack computer, which also runs a Nginx webserver. This website is not operating off my home computer in Ontario but through a commercial hosting service in Virginia. I call it an attack computer, but I use it primarily for testing purposes.

My interest in Red Team tactics might almost be described as recreational. I am drawn to gamified exercises such as “Capture the Flag.” I am especially interested in the logistics that underlie the activities of hackers. “I wonder how he expects to make money using this scheme?” I might ask myself. “He can’t control all the important variables.” I map out the points in the plan that seem to depend at least in part on random chance – i.e. being lucky. Success at an enterprise level depends greatly on the presentation of statistical distributions. This is not to say that I am a statistician. However, a reasonable ROI depends on the outcomes not being adversely skewed.

At the same time, Cybersecurity is quite simply an amazing field – fascinating on many different levels. It is even interesting at an ecological level, as sides adapt to socio-technological environmental shifts – and also to each other.

I don’t know when exactly services will be made available to interested organizations. But even when the time is right, in all likelihood I will only be able offer support to a handful of businesses. I have no plans to go largescale.
